All three phases will be done in the same boat—a Rannoch R25 purpose-built ocean rowing boat. This 28ft vessel is built to self-right should it capsize. This boat has already crossed the Atlantic Ocean with one other team, so is fully prepared for the task ahead. Equipment such as water maker, navigation plotter, radios, emergency safety equipment, and positioning beacons will be carried on this small but perfectly formed boat. The boat is propelled by human power alone. All the electrical equipment on board is powered by solar panels, and the boat was bought second hand to reduce the carbon footprint of the campaign. Wherever feasible the team have sourced second-hand equipment in a bid to make this important campaign as carbon neutral as possible.
